Epicondylitis
Tennis elbow (epicondylitis), formally known as "lateral epicondylitis," is a condition where the muscles and tendons on the outer side of the elbow become inflamed. This condition is primarily associated with racket sports such as tennis, hence the name, but it can also occur in other sports and daily activities.

Main Causes
- Overuse:
・Repetitive use of the arm and elbow muscles can damage tendons, causing inflammation. - Improper Technique:
・Incorrect swing or form in sports like tennis can put strain on the elbow. - Daily Activities:
・Activities such as computer work or lifting heavy objects can also cause similar symptoms.
Main Symptoms
- Pain on the Outer Side of the Elbow:
・Pain occurs especially when lifting objects or extending the arm. - Numbness and Sensory Abnormalities:
・Numbness may be felt in the wrist or fingers. - Muscle Weakness:
・Difficulty in performing arm movements.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Diagnosis involves a physical examination by a doctor, considering symptoms and past activities. Treatment methods generally include rest, cooling, the use of painkillers, and physical therapy. For severe or unresponsive cases, injection therapy or surgery may be considered. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential.
